For NYC-Based designer Sandy Liang, this is her third collaboration with Vans which takes it back to her roots yet again. Drawing inspiration from her childhood and the 90's Sandy Liang has given her new footwear and appparel collection her signature stamp.
When it comes to apparel Liang has continued to hit the nail on the head. For this particular collection we see a mix of fabrics and materials making for an interesting collection. There's a Chore Coat, a hoodie, the Authentic Chino (my personal favorite), t-shirts and an array of accessories that include a bucket hat as well.
Now, let's get into the footwear in the collection. This seasons lineup features classic footwear styles from the Vans DNA. We see a Sk8-Hi Platform 2.0 that fearures an all-over rose embroidered canvas. There's the Style 73 DX that includes the Sidestripe with floral embroidery on the uppers and "Lower East Side Lover" on the opposite. The Authentic 44 DX includes a multi-colored gingham fabric with a lace collar and detachable pouch on the tongue. The Authentic 44 DX is a digitally printed replica of a shoe that Sandy customized herself with scribbles of happy butterflies that carry through to a matching short sleeve tee, pullover and crossbody bag. The beloved Half Cab 33 DX has been transformed with green Sherpa uppers and a custom flower eyelet.
And there's something special to note too! Sandy Liang collection is also helping Vans debut a brand-new silhouette, the Sk8-Hi Tapered Modular, a hi-top with a deconstructed slim collar that has novelty lace trim and a removable outsole unit so that the style can be transformed to be worn with or without the outsole.
