Nike is celebrating the LGBTQIA+ community in full force. The sneakers in this years collection include the Nike Air Force 1, the Nike Air Max 2090 and the Nike Air Deschutz. The silhouettes themselves occupy different eras and spaces too, and form a lineup that brings a unified strength in diversity. Let's take a look.
This is the Air Force 1 first time being included in the Nike BETRUE collection. The sneakers glossy gradient is inspired by New York City ballroom culture in the '80s. It also features a 10-color heel mark inspired by the More Color, More Pride flag introduced in Philadelphia in 2017. To recognize people of color in the LGBTQIA+ community, the colors of the flag were expanded to add the black and brown stripes.
The Nike Air Max 2090 is one of the newest Air Max added to the signature lineup. The sneaker features the flag displayed in the upper in a striking contrast with the BETRUE logo on the side.
The Nike Air Deschutz sold out immediately in its latest release and now is back for the BETRUE collection. The sandal features a mostly black upper with pops of color throughout that can be found across the straps and footbed. It also features a detachable pouch at the heel.
The Nike BeTrue Collection releases June 5 throughout Greater China and June 19 globally on nike.com and at select retailers.
