βThe project began with a conversation about making women feel proud to represent their favorite teams,β says YOON. βWe were considering how to balance the culture of the sport without losing style.β Yoon has become the first female designer to partner with Nike and the NBA with reimagining the Los Angeles Lakes and Brooklyn Nets apparel.
ββI thought of all these amazing and strong female characters from the β90s who would come out in menβs clothes, and I wanted to see how we could carry that attitude, but bring in more feminine forms.β β

Yoon focused on reimagining a few aspects of apparel such as the tearaway basketball warm-up pant into a seasonal trouser with a contrast-color double waist band. There's form fitting long-sleeve tops that has a classic NBA jersey aesthetic. But, there's also two jackets that I'm sure the ladies will love.
Last but not least is the AMBUSH Nike Dunk. Channeling Japanese bike, car and truck culture, the shoe is given an elongated and heightened form, with Swooshes extending beyond the heel-like bike pipes. βI thought, 'how can I make the shoes almost look like this moving thing?ββ says YOON.
The Nike x AMBUSH NBA Collection releases globally December 11.
